Confession

When I visit people, I always end up looking through their books

And judging. Yes, I admit - I'm a (recovering) book snob.

But it is nice if you see a similarity in tastes - then you can make a mental note of what else is there so you can add to your TBR list.

And if they don't have visible books? The horror!

*raises her hand* Guilty!

I also do this, every time. I sort of glide to the shelves after 1 minute in a house and start making snap judgements based on what I find there :P

I do this all the time. I stare at people's bookshelves and make all kinds of assumptions. I always feel I am invading someone's privacy a little when I start examining their shelves, but then again it's their choice to display them:P

@irisonbooks I think by displaying them they're asking us to look :-)

I always look but I ask before I walk over and become intimate with their books! I was once in someone's home and I asked her would she mind if I took a look at her bookshelf. She said no and I ended up finding a book I liked. When I asked her about it, she said, "Oh if you really like it, you can have it." You can only imagine my reaction!

I was also in the home of someone and I did not see a single solitary book! Well, you can only imagine what I bought her for her birthday :-)

@Shannon @ Reading Has Purpose Love it! I totally buy books for non-readers as a gentle(ish) push into the literary world.

@Vern Hey! I was wondering what you've been up to, lovely. Traipsing around spying on people's bookshelves, apparently :-)
